The Hero - Robyn Carr 3.25 Stars. Thank you Harlequin MIRA and Netgalley for this eARC.What I Liked: This third installment in the Thunder Point series focuses on love, loss and learning to trust again. Devon McAllister has taken a huge risk fleeing The Fellowship, the religious cult she and her daughter Mercy have been embroiled in over the past four years. All she wants when she gets to Thunder Point is to start over, give Mercy a life where they both can feel safe and secure, but to do that, Devon will have to accept help from an unlikely source and learn to trust again. Spencer Lawson has his hands full trying to juggle his new job, his young son Austin and his grief. The last thing he needs is a distraction of the female variety but that's exactly what he gets when Devon comes to town. Spencer can't really explain the pull he feels to protect her but he knows that getting too close too soon after the loss of his wife could be disastrous for both of them. But the more time he spends around Devon, the more Spencer realizes that life is short and often full of pain, but it's also full of surprises too. Surprises that have a way of healing your wounded heart and showing you how to love again. As with the previous books in this series, the cast of characters we've come to enjoy are never far away and tie easily into Devon and Spencer's story. However, the one I enjoyed the most was Rawley, watching as he came out of his self-imposed seclusion to help Devon and bond with Mercy was heartwarming. The relationship development between Cooper, Spencer and Austin was humorously awkward and it's nice to see Sarah experience real happiness. I am intrigued by Eric's character and was not at all surprised to see the next book is his story. What Left Me Wanting More: There were parts that felt rushed or a little too cut and dry, like how all of the romantic leads tend to share their feelings a little too freely with the women in their lives as well as each other which I'm not sure is entirely realistic. Final Verdict: Another engaging story in this series!
