The Thing About the Truth - Lauren Barnholdt I have been looking forward to reading this book for months, so you can imagine my frustration when it turned out to be a lot different than I expected. I'm usually a sucker for a pretty cover but this one is a little off putting, especially the look on the girl's face. Also, their hair color is all wrong and that irked me. Kelsey isn't blond and Issac isn't brunette. The book jumps back and forth between Before and Aftermath and is told from alternating POV's (always a win for me) and alludes to this big huge "thing" that happened, but once you get past the first couple of chapters, it's just "meh". Kelsey is a real witch-with-a-b and I found myself getting bored with her. The relationship between she and Issac is one-sided and lacked chemistry and I kept wondering what he saw in her?It isn't until roughly the last 15 pages where we find out what happened and honestly, I was like, "Is that all?" Don't get me wrong, honesty always trumps lying but I was totally expecting there to be a dead body involved and there wasn't.The one thing this story did try to stress is that it's always better to tell the truth because no matter how hard you try to hide it, the truth always comes out, always.
